Roy
On our recent travels Tom Tom 700 failed to operate and would not move from initial screen. Looking through the web site there was a suggestion to charge the unit for 2 hours on mains and this has done the trick. I am assuming that the internal battery was a flat but I would have thought that the unit would still operate on 12v. Since charging on mains for 2 hours when first new (just over 12 months) I haven't done so up to now. I thought that using it on 12v would keep the battery topped up. Has anybody any ideas on this which I suppose applies to any sat. nav. Roy.
empress
Hullo Roy, We had a similar problem with our Tom Tom in France when the screen froze. We discovered that to reactivate the unit we had to push something pointed, we used a paperclip, into the reset hole underneath - this worked! I am afraid this probably doesn't answer your problem as it was nothing to do with the battery. Good wishes.
Way2Go
Roy,I'm assuming you are using the 12 volt cigar lighter connection to keep your GO topped up?If your problem 'was' a loss or power then maybe it might be that the connection had come loose and wasn't infact charging at all thus allowing the GO to slowly discharge. My GO510 has a small green light glowing which I look at on a regular basis whilst scanning the instruments during driving. When was the last time it was used? It may be that if it hasn't been used for a few weeks then it has slowly leaked away it's power?I'm more inclined to think it was maybe a lockup which would need to reset as described above.I've never had to reset my GO but had to reset my PDA version on a regular basis. Roy
Thanks for that. I did know about the re-set button but it didn't help. In future I will charge on mains before leaving home and also carry the mains charger just in case.
