LordThornber
I'm genuinely pondering this. Is it an age thing, (I'm 50), or the company I keep, (a really diverse bunch ) or is it the social media world most of us inhabit that is generating such good well balanced discussions? I can honestly say I'm enjoying the election but curious as to where the good vibes are coming from. Martyn
Guest Peter James
I think its because of the internet the Establishment Status Quo finds it harder to stifle debate and hush things up - much as they try to do.

flicka
But why do the BBC & ITV give so much airtime to Alex Salmon ?????????????????? No longer a party leader, so why is face so often in front of their camera's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Biggest mistake of the century not to exclude Scottish MP's being able to still vote on matters relating to England. Guest Peter James
Well I do think its a bit rich for Cameron to say a Labour Government would be blackmailed by the SNP to get their support - especially when Cameron bribed the Scots with English taxpayers money to keep them under his government . If its true that Labour could be blackmailed like Cameron was, its a perversion caused by the first past the post system that Cameron supports. The latest video clip of Salmond sent to the BBC by the tories has been played over and over again. Surely a sign of the BBCs right wing bias. ;-)

I will be protest voting against our local MP who is a disgrace. I've heard lots of comments over the last few years of left wing bias at the BBC, and have always thought it to be people whinging because their favorite didn't come off well in some piece, but after last nights interview with Farage and the subsequent piece on immigration on newsnight i've changed my mind, there seems to be a real bias against Farage and immigration limitation, IMO the BBC needs to look at what some of its editors are up to. Guest Joe90
I don't accept that we need to limit immigration at all, we can easily accommodate very many millions more, a massive house building program combined with the scrapping of the green belt, and cover the UK in roads and motorways so everyone can at least attempt to get around would create thousands of jobs, and even more hand car wash entrepreneurs. As I understand it from various election broadcasts, all the immigrants that have arrived so far have been doctors and nurses, and the NHS would collapse without them. :-D

The NHS pays nurses £8 an hour, but the agencies pay them £15 and charge the NHS £30 *-) Nurses are paid on a band system. General nurses eg: ward nurses, theater nurses etc are on bands 1 to 7,......band 6 and 7 are nurses that are what we would call (in working class terms) chargehands, foremen (forewomen) in other words shop floor management. So those on band 1 and 2 are students then qualifide students, Band 3 are qualifide nurses working with a mentor and bands 4 and 5 are your typical hospital nurses that range on length of time served and experience. Bands of pay now start at band 2 (no idea what happened to band 1) Band 2, £15,432 per annum Band 3, £17,794 " " Band 4, £20.638 " " Band 5, £23,825 " " Band 6, £28,755 " " Band 7, £34,530 " " Beleive me, they earn every penny of it. nowtelse2do
NEWS FLASH !!!! Nicola Sturgeon is touring Perthshire in the First Minister’s chauffeur driven car. Suddenly a cow jumps out into the road. They hit it full on and the car comes to a stop. Nicola in her usual jaunty manner, says to the chauffeur; "You get out and check. " The chauffeur gets out, checks and reports that the animal is dead. "You were driving; go and tell the farmer." says Nicola, ''I can’t afford to be blamed for anything.'' The chauffeur walks up the drive to the farmhouse… Five hours later he returns, totally plastered, his hair ruffled and with a big grin on his face. "My God, what happened to you ?" asks Nicola. The chauffeur replies, "When I got there, the farmer opened his best bottle of single malt whisky, the wife gave me a slap-up meal, and the daughter made love to me." "What on earth did you say?" asks Nicola. "I knocked on the door and when it was answered, I said to them, ''I'm Nicola Sturgeon's chauffeur, and I've just killed the cow." nowtelse2do
IT'S TRUE. As we approach the next election just keep this in mind.......... While stitching a cut on the hand of a 75 year old farmer, whose hand was caught in the squeeze gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to politicians and their role as our leaders. The old farmer said, "Well, as I see it, most politicians are 'Post Tortoises'.” Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post tortoise' was. The old farmer said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a tortoise balanced on top, that's a post tortoise." The old farmer saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. “You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he's elevated beyond his ability to function, and you just wonder what kind of dumb arse put him up there to begin with." Best explanation of a politician I've ever heard. Dave
