Max Speed
Upon getting the RV ready for the season, on looking at the rear locker the covering "Vynil" laminate had separated from the ply wood flooring , and on close inspection found the floor was very wet , off the clock on my damp meter. after checking, theThetford No 6 door it looks like the water ingress is via the door seal and frame. so out with the frame to find the sealer had deteriorated and also the frame screw holes had water in them. Have ordered a new No 6 door ,and am using a dehumidifier to dry out , fingers crossed!!. After I will use West Epoxy to flood the under laminate with dowel reinforcing ,and hopefully sort the problem????. It looks like I will have to check all the window seals and body joints as it could be a bad batch of sealer when manufactured . More info on the problem in the near future
Keith T
You don't say how old your Burstner is, but I had a similar problem on our Burstner T595 Marano which was then 7 years old. Fortunately I picked up the water ingress very quickly and no long term damp remained. Whilst it was originally thought that water ingress was via the seal on the door - this was to an underbed locker at the rear offside of the van - we eventually found it was the seal on the frame to the body and not the door. I think this is possibly what you have found and the door would seem to be in a similar location. Whilst we tried to re-seal this ourselves we were unable to get to the interior of the lower edge where the water was coming in, it meant a trip to the dealers for them to remove the frame itself and refit with new sealant. This has worked perfectly, and the van has been checked for any other damp ingress and is OK. Hope this helps.
Max Speed
Hi Keith T Our 625 is 10yrs old and this is the first problem apart from the usual Fiat gear shift getting stiff,a strip down an clean and loads of grease cures it for about 18 mths, I have extended the heater bucket drain pipe to feed water past the gear shift cranks and this seems to have cured it?? The floor is drying out well and moisture level is down to 18% so another day or two should have it to approx 8% or less?? The west Epoxy resin & hardner has arrived so all set to fettle up . Regards & steer small Max Speed
