Don't lose your locking water tank cap

After several near misses, driving off and leaving cap behind.but going back and finding it still there.I decided to 'fix it' as my memory obviously can't be trusted. Drilled a small hole through the cap lid and threaded a length of stainless steel bath plug chain through it (with a brass key ring) only needs 6" or so, attached to tank filler lip. Now when removed it hangs there, out of the way, but still attached to the van. Should I forget again !!

Plug kept as spare !

You can never have too many spare plugs Ray!!

very true especially in France where they all seem to have been stolen (is there a plug shortage in France ?) And what is it with missing toilet seats too ? Are you expected to bring your own ? As well as toilet paper/ sink plug ? Or was I just unlucky ?

There was a plug shortage, not helped by people 'liberating' what few that remained in captivity, so I understand, but I am told that hole has now been - er - plugged!

As for missing seats, well I suppose it pays to keep your loo door locked to prevent it from going AWOL too, but at least you can wash your hands even if you can't sit down!

I wonder where they all went - is there some great seat and plug centre somewhere in the depths of France where they all congregate together enjoying a never ending teddy bear's picnic whilst flapping their lids and wiggling their chains with glee!

I didn't tip the old lady at the door either ! When did you last leave a tip for the loo cleaner(especially when they had sold all the seats !) She wasn't very happy, luckily I don't know many French swearwords. She seemed to know enough for both of us though.

Must admit I did use a "spare" toilet seat as a frame for my mother in law's 'photo. Perhaps that's was the Froggies do.

The key for the water cap is on the same keyring as the 'main' ignition key, not much chance of driving off without it.

. Trouble is it takes sometimes 10 minutes to fill the tank, so removing the keys to do 'other things' was the reason mine was nearly lost.
