Hi Mac

I forgot to say, that as you are going from Portsmouth , I assume you are on the fast cat? I don't know how big your van is, but we are a coachbuilt, and 3mtrs high, and have to back on the ferry, which is OK, as you get to be first off

Hi, is it OK to stay overnight at Cherbourge port, as i understand that Brittiany Ferries have now stoped motor vans from staying overnight at Roscoff

Just in case your statement that Brittany Ferries has stopped overnighting at Roscoff confuses anyone this is an extract from the Brittany Ferries port guide which suggests you are incorrect:

"Parking facilities at Roscoff port are all free of charge, but vehicles are left at the owner's own risk. You can park for a maximum of 48 hours in the large open car park in front of the passenger terminal, which has 24 hour access to toilet facilities. There is a small overnight parking area for motorhomes and caravans near the embarkation lanes. Also there is free overnight parking at Sainte Barbe, 1km away from the port, and at Perharidy, 2 km away".

As for Cherbourg this is an extract from the BF Port Guide:

"There is a car park situated in front of the terminal for short and long-term stays. There is no charge for parking here but it is at the owner's risk. Part of the car park is reserved for motor homes and caravans and there is 24 hour access to toilet facilities. Secure parking is available behind the terminal for €3.60 per day".

A friend of ours, who lives in Brittany, often leaves his car or motorhome at Cherbourg, for several days, and has no problems, and the car is a soft top!!, but of course it is French reg.

There is lot's of space at Cherbourg and should not be a problem, but as I said earlier, we prefer to park at the marina, as that is closer to restaurants, shops etc.

Hi PJay, we only have a auto sleeper Trident camper van so will be OK,

Mike, the usual parking were motor homes used to overnight at Roscoff I believe now has a height barrier, a couple of weeks ago the website stated there was no parking for motor homes at the port so they must have altered that recently but I doubt if there is enough parking for the usual amount of motor homes and caravans that usually stay there, as anyone else stayed at the port recently,
