Dave225
It is the economy, or so we are kept being told. The attached article offers an interesting slant on the subject and while I can see where the author is coming from in the first part of his article, i am not so sure about the second. But then again I am not really au fait with what he is descrining in these new currencies. However, it is one way of looking at things I guess. By the way, as I am a bit too old, what are Dragon Balls? http://bellacaledonia.org.uk/2015/05/04/the-age-of-the-dragon-ball/
Guest Peter James
This is the situation; British government debt in figures: 2009/10 - 823bn Jan 2015 - 1585bn May 2015 - 823bn x 2 ? Yes, these figures are General Government Consolidated Gross Debt (Maastricht) figures, the relevant figures, the right figures, not the lies we are being presented elsewhere. Doubling the debt in one term means that Britain is in no position to afford anything really. Yet Politicians are arguing what to do with money we don't have, with all the braggado of a country with a Sovereign Wealth Fund like Norway, who invested their oil money instead of wasting it like Britain. They are counting rent increases as GDP 'Growth' instead of inflation, and trumpeting that as evidence of 'Recovery' *-) As for Bitcoin, I don't understand it (who really does?) And I don't invest in things I don't understand.
malc d
It's all getting very confusing now that " money " as we used to know it, is being phased out and being replaced with numbers on computers. ... and of course, you can use numbers to prove almost anything, so just choose the set of figures that you prefer to believe in. As for long term debt - it reminds me that it's not long since we stopped paying for WW2. Something else was bound to take its' place. ;-)
