status 530 aerial

....there are two versions of this series of aerials; one with a long mast (for fitting above/in a wardrobe-length cupboard) and one with a short mast (for fitting above/in a shorter roof-cupboard)

Though not technically telescopic, both are designed (when correctly installed) to allow the aerial mast to be raised (obviously the longer one goes higher).

This is achieved by loosening the locking collar on the mast (see the instructions) and physically pushing the mast upwards. (The collar should then be re-tightened).

With the collar loosened, the direction of the aerial can also be adjusted.

There is provision for the aerial to be adjusted for horizontally polarised (normally main transmitter) signals, and vertically polarised (normally repeater transmitter) signals. This is achieved by winding the little handle at the bottom of the mast (and I'm assuming this is what you're referring to when you say "tilt")

...good. Don't forget to lower it before travelling. ;-)

. Another one of those jobs to do before driving off, incidentally , I used to drive with it 'pointy end forward' after lowering it, but evidently it's supposed to be 'blunt end forward' aerodynamics or so I was told ? Does it matter ? We don't go that fast.

We drove home from the Peterborough Show with our ariel raised (its the long one so was quite high) but I noticed it when I came out from paying at the Petrol Station. Put that on our checklist now of things to do before driving away from site ha ha ha.

We also drive with the point facing forward, interesting it should point backwards.
