DAMP HELP PLEASE

Hi all ,any thoughts please.

Recently had a habitation check on a Bessacar e 530.on the report it came up with 69 percent in rear corner ,on plan it looks like behind toilet in short ,to fix!!!!!!! cost was £2800 ,less £1000 for warranty £1800.This includes removing rear bumpers ,wall panel, toilet etc making good .

Have today with small damp meter checked and then a near by caravan dealer checked and none of levels show any causes for concern. This was inside and around the toilet.

Having spoken to MH dealer it appears that the damp is on underside of floor ,have checked under van myself and yes right at rear of van levels are higher ,there is no damage to floor and black bitumen is in tack.Dealer has now agreed to recheck this area .Also levels much lower in middle of floor pan .

My question to you all is the van is parked so most of rain runs of on this side of van at rear ,also it on offside behind rear wheels taking all the spray. Is it likely rear walls need to be removed ,is it normal for higher level of damp in this area ,it is as far back as spray could go

Hi, welcome to the wet weak ender club.

as you seem to suggest the offending area is around or relatively near the toilet area, it makes me wonder if there could be a leak from the toilet plumbing somehow..has flush tank developed a problem, ?or wash basin plumbing been affected by a frosty winter causing a leak.?or even shower tray?

If none of these, then a close inspection of external visible joins and resealing them, and very close inspection on the underside, around wheel arches, and mountings of waste tanks, etc.

I have been troubled by similar problems at rear end of my Stargazer.

can I suggest you search the forum for entries in the last 12 months, using "DAMP" as a search key.

it should bring up my earlier entries on the subject..it might help give you clues to look at.

earlier today, I have done some experimental extra damp elimination, and now await to see the outcome.

to help your case, get a dehydrator installed in the van while it is at home..it might help with drying it out.

best of luck
