Lizzie
Hi We have been looking at one of these as our first motor home. Can anyone comment on them? Is diesel heating a good/bad thing for example? Is there anything obvious to look out for? Any problems others have had or foreseen? We only need a two berth but think the overcab will be good for storage... I'd be grateful for any ideas. Rayjsj
Autocruise Coachbuilts of that era (ie Up until Swift took them over in 2008) were very well built, with very few 'Damp ingress' problems, although a damp check would still be sensible, I had a similar model a 2005 'Starlet 2' a marquis special Starburst, Mine had the Eberspacher 'Combitronic' heating and hot water system, a system I liked very much, and wish I still had it. It is heavy on 12v battery power on startup,(20 amps required) so if the battery is 'borderline' this heater will help it on its way out ! But, I found it very reliable, especially if serviced by a 'proper' Eberspacher service dealer (usually HGV or Boat Heater specialists). you can use it 'En Route' without any problems, and mine never let me down (unlike my Truma (Trauma !!) Combi 4E which has let me down numerous times, hate the thing !). we now ALWAYS carry an alternative form of heating, which we never had to do with the Eberspacher. I used the Autocruise for 4 years. including being away at Christmas twice. I say, a good first choice of van. Ray
Tracker
Are we talking last of the 'old' X244 chassis cab or first of the 'new' X250 chassis cab as they are two very different beasts indeed, plus I am not sure, but I think maybe for the X250 Autocruise may (or may not) have used the Alko chassis on the Starspirit? Please clarify which one it is for more type specific experiences.
Lizzie
It is a 2007 model - how would I tell? Presume you would have to ask the dealer so can't do that till tomorrow. What is the difference between the two?
Rayjsj
A 2007 X244 'cabbed' Starspirit with the less common Overcab. The very best of the older vans. with all of the 'bugs' ironed out. IMO. http://motorhomes.autotrader.co.uk/used-motorhomes/autocruise/starspirit/2007-autocruise-starspirit-diesel-marlborough-mfpa-8ae192154cff07af014d20b05fe952c8/makemodel/make/autocruise/model/starspirit the 2007 X250 'cabbed' lowline Starspirit, the 'new' cab with all of the 'new' problems. NOT so good as the previous (but a lot more expensive ?) IMO. http://motorhomes.autotrader.co.uk/used-motorhomes/autocruise/starspirit/2007-autocruise-starspirit-diesel-bursledon-mfpa-8aa532484cb6e0b5014cf00bddb872d2/makemodel/make/autocruise/model/starspirit Ray ps sorry hav'nt learnt how to post piccies on here, you'll have to look at the links.
