Rac or AA ?????

Sunday morning 8.30 am jumped in the van to go and see my dad who is critcally ill ,the van wouldnt start! After a dozen attempts it was obvious we were going nowhere , never mind sez i and pulled out my trusty rac membership card phoned them got put thru gave them my name and membership number :- sorry mrs pampam but you are no longer a member , what have you spelt the name correctly? (Often happens) yep i pay by direct debit every december and apparentley they havent taken it out .... Sent me the cards but not taken the payment so am not a member (been a member 22 years jointly with hubby) anyhow they could make me a member but only one of us so ive been running about thinking i was covered when i wasnt ,and in the middle of dashing to see my dad had to get my bank details out etc and was going to be charged the same as when we were joint members. Anyhow in anger i told em to shove it!!! And my good old sister diverted and picked me up to go see pater (he okay now) and ive joined AA which reminds me id better cheque my account to see whether they did take payment out in december : and vans still in garage and i should have been down in exeter tonight in a hotel but got to see if van starts when cold in morning (so been expensive week with aa membership£256, £772 for van and loss of hotel £108 cheers pp:))the reason ive put it on here is because its the Arrival thru the camping and caravaning club i kept it on cos theres not much price difference :)
