candapack
We are set up to not need an EHU, with a solar panel and 2 leisure batteries. However, in cold weather, OH insists on mains electricity so we can leave the heater on overnight. She will not leave it on on gas. A sensible precaution, or a groundless fear? vindiboy
Providing your gas heater is burning correctly and properly vented there is no worries about leaving it on overnight, how would that differ to sitting all evening with it burning ??
Archiesgrandad
If everything is in good nick there should be no problem, but it don't half use a lot of gas. AGD

If it ain't burning correctly and properly vented and you are sleeping you will almost certainly die, I guess that differs from just sitting there feeling drowsy. Fit a CO alarm then you can sleep soundly ;-) ...........If you fit a refillable you'll be able to sleep cheaper too :D ............
candapack
Thanks all. We have refillable gas, so just the CO alarm and goodbye to 2 EHU leads and various adapters. Well, maybe. *-)
hallii
I always sleep with mine on when it's cold, actually, if it's not to cold I put the water heater on, the bed is over the garage and the heater is in the garage, the heat rises and keeps the bed area just right! colin
IMO a CO alarm should be fitted irrespective of if you want to run the heat on gas. The only downside I can think of is the start up noise.

Well that was my point ,if it burning correctly and properly vented it is no problem either sleeping or sitting there of an evening, But if it is NOT ?????? JonMac46
Wouldn't be without a CO alarm. We use the heater on gas a lot as it can be quite nippy in Ireland. Did 3 nights recently no EHU, leisure battery coped well.
