Pete-B
Hi, Is there such a thing as a regulator that controls the power from a solar panel that also incorporates a smart charger for monitoring the vehicle and leisure batteries?
lennyhb
Plenty available, Example of a cheap one here Or a more expensive MPPT one here. This MPPT controller has a lot of good reports from Motorhomer's it's only a single output, but you could use it with a split relay like this. mikejkay
Mine is used in conjunction with a meter display and can charge both the vehicle and the habitation batteries. It can be set for one of 3 different types of battery and can also be set to provide a different proportion of the solar panel output to each battery. Mine is set for 30% to the cab battery and 70% to the habitation battery. The photos are scavenged from eBay :D If you look closely at the photo of the controller it has two outputs, one for a battery and the other for a circuit. The version I have has two battery outputs. I have been pleased with the system, so much so that I had the same units fitted to my new van.
