Anyone got/heard of the Hymer Duomobile?

We have finally found the perfect van for us that ticks every box for us.

Well, apart from a full oven (but sure that could be sorted)

Oh yea, and the price 8-)

Thinking that this model might start coming onto the market in a few years time, low mileage etc etc.

What do you lot think?
It seems to have everything that two people on a long term trip could ever need?

Sat in one for quite a while at the NEC last October. We could see the logic of the design and layout. We could see that it was targeted at a certain type of motorhomer - a couple who spend a lot of time using it for extended periods,

There were a few things that we started to find that were not quite right. When you have another couple, such as friends, in the van, it doesn't quite work as well, especially with the big table. And we weren't totally convinced about the front beds.

We have some concerns about the build quality of out current Hymer so decided that we'd probably go for a Niesmann & Bischoff's Arto again if we were going to spend that amount. We weren't too sure if we were the targeted DuoMobile motorhomer. We felt the Arto layouts were more conservative but the quality of build was better. But most of all, we were not sure whether the DuoMobile model was going to catch on and that would impact on future value.

The have been around for 2 or 3 years now so they must be selling a few, Hymer are very quick to drop models that don't sell.Hymer now offer as an option the Thetford cooker, which has 3 gas rings 1 electric, separate grill & oven, IMO it would be better with 4 gas rings.

Didn't realise that they had been out for so long, will have to keep an eye out, thanks for the info.

You'll need a large wallet, though! Currently there are 18 for sale in Germany on mobile.de, ranging from €99,000 for used with 25K on the clock, to €125,000 for new auto. It is 7.8 metres long, x 2.35 o/a wide, so no compact. It seems to be sold as a 2 + 2, which is odd as its USP was supposed to be that it was for couples. Given that, have you considered any of the other Hymer A class vans with the front drop down bed omitted in favour of cupboards. Sort of the same thing, but with the lounge diner at the front, and beds at the rear? You should be a ble to find something both more compact, and quite a bit cheaper.

looked briefly at a video a while ago and it just appeared to be a bit fussy and gimmicky IMO...Agree with Brian far better value A class around

I looked at it at the NEC. The idea of single beds at the front, exploiting otherwise under-used space on the dashboard of an A Class, seems like a good one but the execution looked both cumbersome and a bit flimsy, like you'd have to be very careful not to damage anything when folding the beds down, or even getting in and out of them.

It struck me as a prototype of a good idea which need more work to make it practical - and too expensive to be attractive, for what it is. Hopefully the idea will be developed into something better.
