grandadbaza
I recently a reversing camera and and monitor and when switched on it causes quite bad interference to the radio , is there some sort of suppressor I could fit to the system to stop it interfering with the radio . The kit I bought is this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Twin-lens-reversing-camera-high-resolution-rearview-monitor-for-motorhome-15m-/231466044569?nma=true&si=6Xzq6nWbJBP9pmhV3Ldhw9MJM%252Bw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 I is fitted to my 2010 Ducato motorhome Any suggestions welcome
manxli
Hi I had exactly this problem with the existing monitor in my 2nd hand Flash 02. It got even worse when I fitted an upmarket Alpine DAB radio. My solution? I found out that my Garmin Camper Navi had a 'video in' socket and made up an adapter to feed the existing camera in. Fixed! No problem now at all. I suppose the Garmin has better suppresion. You could try fitting 'ferrite rings' on the cables, although another forum reported that it only reduced the intererence slightly. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/ferrite-ring-hem3016-qt26d Hope that helps Alan
AliB
My first guess would be a faulty with the cable between the cameras and monitor. From the ebay description this kit uses a composite cable with all the conductors in one outer sheath. If the cable has been damaged during the installation with for example one of the screen sheaths being damaged interference would be evident. If it is easy to remove the camera from the rear of the vehicle than connect the camera directly to the monitor in the cab. Hence eliminating the cable. Next suspect would be the control box that houses the voltage stabiliser and fuse, feeding the power supply to the monitor. Not much you can do here except replace it. Have you contacted the ebay seller and explained the problems? Finally, DAB radio can be extremely susceptible to interference. If all your connections to 12V, ground and reverse gear switch are not absolutely perfect you may get problems.
Jayden009
Hi When I bought my first caravan I was also facing this type of problem.Because of reversing safely importance I have spent some time to ring around the local specialists in Melbourne and googled a few places and found industry professionals recommended a wired 4 pin reversing system due to its thick cabling , heavy duty 4 pin connection system and heavy duty camera design over a wireless option. (People didn’t like that for some reason) I went to a local company to me called PPA car audio who I have seen sell this product. In the matter of 10 minutes of discussions, they were able to point me in the right direction, were able to arrange to come to my house and install it to my Toyota Land cruiser and caravan. The installation process took 3 hours and I must say I was happy with the result. They offered me a reversing camera and screen package with 2 cameras where one was pointing to my tow ball and the other was installed behind the caravan. They both had night vision. It’s made reversing so much safer!
