laimeduck
As of 16.30 this afternoon:- Wednesday 15th July M20 closed between Maidstone & Folkestone & A20 solid between Folkestone & Dover. I just drove back from Dover to Folkestone Racecourse and the A20 is just a solid block of lorries. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/folkestone/news/operation-stack-brought-in-after-40166/ Might be worth signing this petition:- https://www.change.org/p/david-cameron-mp-stop-operation-stack

Guest pelmetman
Its ironic that we have to queue to leave the country........when there's so many on the other side of the chunnel queuing up to get in illegally 8-)............. Is there actually any benefit to being in the EU? *-) ............
Cattwg
As I posted a couple of weeks ago. The French operate a similar stacking system on their A16 motorway. The M20 and A16 motorways are similar - two lanes plus hard shoulder. On the A16 we passed 11 miles of lorries, double-parked on each carriageway, they used the hard shoulder and the inside lane. But, and this is the crux, the outside lane of both carriageways was kept open. Our journey to the Tunnel terminal took double the normal time but at least we were able to make it with what, considering the chaos, was a small inconvenience. So why can this not happen here? I accept that there are safety considerations but surely it’s not beyond the wit of the authorities to design suitable strategies to minimise these. Guest Peter James
pelmetman - 2015-07-15 6:21 PM Is there actually any benefit to being in the EU? *-) ............ Yes - countries who are in the EU do well out of it. But Britain has never really been in the EU. Just hanging half in, half out getting the worst of both worlds. Hawcara
I've often heard about this on the radio, but not taken must interest as it hasn't affected me. However, if one is crossing in a Motorhome then do you just drive straight to Dover as you're not freight or sit in the queue? Also, I assumed from recent posts on here that Marine Parade is no longer an option for overnighting? Any advice would be most welcome :-D
