Anyone else watching 'The Bank' on BBC2?

Yesterday, illegal immigrant Fayed was offered his £41k council flat for £20k under the 'right to buy' scheme. He has about £5k saved so went into the bank for a £15k mortgage. They tell him 'the least we can lend you is £25k'. Fayed says thats too much and goes out. 2 days later he is back and borrows the £25k.

Bank staff are urged to use their free time ringing people to sell them loans. Haven't we learned from what happened last time the banks were doing this *-)

No need to worry Peter.

Dave Cameron is in charge now so there won't be any more world financial crises.

Don't worry - be happy.

I used to think bank employees were supposed to be reasonably professional in their behaviour. That bunch of munchkins hadn't a single professional brain cell in their collective crania. They'd all been trained to within an inch of their lives, but hadn't the wit or reason to think for themselves. No wonder the banks got into a mess. What a pack of idiots. Huddersfield's finest? Hardly.

Trained to sell I guess, and the fashion at the moment is to sell loans with all the cheap taxpayers money the Government has thrown at them. I thought Fayed showed more responsibility than any of the Bank staff. The Banker turned Fayed down because he would not accept £25k when he only needed to borrow £15k. Then when Fayed had gone the Banker said

'Thats an example of a customer we can't help - for the right reasons obviously'

Who would believe that if they hadn't seen it themselves?
