purple princess
We're due to sail to France on an early morning ferry, does anyone know if we can still park overnight (or for a few hours) on Marine Parade? Thanks
LordThornber
Unless something has changed the answer is no you can't overnight. Dover Council parking website section explains where you can park. Of course there's always someone who'll have got away with it, each to their own. We used the Canterbury park and ride recently (£3), brilliant, 20 mins from Dover. purple princess
Thanks, I always come on the Motorhome forum as you are always educated and have an answer, sadly, we have a caravan and can't stay on the park and ride at Canterbury, although I have heard that it is indeed great. Any different ideas?
purple princess
Having looked at the website it suggests union street parking, I'm not averse to paying, but I can't find the information, has anyone stayed there??
LordThornber
Sorry but just assumed you'd be in a motorhome........ No idea what caravanners do, apart from using the expensive (in my view) services section just before the tunnel exit. Martyn
purple princess
Well... I've spoken with the port and the council today... There is overnight parking available on the Russell Street car park for caravans and motorhomes. Hope that might help someone else. The council said they are also still allowing overnight parking on the seafront but right at the very end, furthest away from the docks, hope that helps x
LordThornber
So no changes then to overnighting on marine parade, it's still forbidden. The place they're referring to is on the sea front, sort of... They're having a consultation about options for overnight stays, its been going on for ever, they'll get peace in the Far East quicker. Glad you're sorted 8-) Martyn
sooty10
Thanks Princess, at least we know the councils rules and where we can stay for a few hours before an early morning ferry. Keith (sooty)
