Synchro bad in 1st/ 2nd. Any thoughts? 1999 model Who did you ask ? They won't be from 'Pukka' Peugeot Dealers, they only keep spares for 5 years or so. Specialist Spares folk do far better. Just one of many to try : http://www.micksgarage.com/car-parts/peugeot/peugeot%20boxer/ Good luck Ray
George Collings
Manufacturers usually keep most spares available for ten years after the end of a models production. Well before then other suppliers are competing for the faster moving items and continue to do so as long as there is a reliable demand. The problem for a petrol Boxer is that very few were sold so spares soon dried up. The gearbox was probably common to a car using the same engine although the internal ratios especially bottom and reverse may have been much lower. artheytrate
If you go on the Auto Sleeper Owners Forum and do a search there has been a thread about this quite recently, and there was a firm that made new parts for the owners gearbox. Caddies104
Hi Just a thought, do you use it regularly, if not take it out for a long then see how it is....
Brambles
Couple of things I would check is if the clutch is dragging, if it is then reverse will be affected as well, and if the oil has water contamination. 1st thing I would probably do is change the oil in the gear box so you know it is of the correct specification. Contaminated oil or the wrong spec can stop the syncro parts doing their job.I believe these gearboxes have a reputation for water leaking in if it splashes over the casing and air vent.
