Aires in Northern France

Recommended Posts

Hi. Can anyone recommend a good, safe aire for a motorhome near to a traffic free cycle route in Northern France please? We are looking for somewhere good to cycle with our Labrador after we leave Paris on 27th December. Come home on 5th January - not many sites open that are suitable for our Autotrail Mohawk.

Any suggestions?

Wonder if anyone knows a vet in or near Calais for our return journey.....??

We have used the very good and large aire at Bergues about half hour from Calais. You will have no problem with the size of your van as the aire is on a old red gravel football pitch.Good shopping in the local area but not sure of the cycling but you are in France and Le Bike rules LOL. B-)

The aire at Neufchatel en Bray is right opposite an 'Avenue Verte' that was an old railway line, a really pleasant ride, it is just off the A28 at the town. You need to check opening times at the time you are intending travelling though, we have never been at that time.

the aire at Le Crotoy has access to a wonderful cycle path which is well away from the road and goes for many miles.

And in nearby Rue, there is a good vet with parking suitable for a motorhome. Or if a Mohawk is a bit too big, there are 2 supermarkets with huge parking literally 2 minutes walk away.

Used the vet this year, and the service was excellent.

If you want more than just an overnight stop, the Aires the other side of the estuary at

St Valery is much nicer. It costs more but for a couple of nights it won't break the bank.

You can get on the same cycle path, the town has more going on,and for a winter visit the surface you park on will not be like a lake, if it is wet at all.
