Chieftain123 Posted October 25, 2015 Share Posted October 25, 2015 I have an autotrail chieftain 2.8 ducato engine and it starts but the n stops but after waiting a couple of hours it starts again but cuts out after running a short while... euroserv Posted October 27, 2015 Share Posted October 27, 2015 Thanks Rich, not heard from him yet though! For the benefit of anyone who has a similar problem........ The first thing to check is that the electric fuel lift pump under the floor is running when the ignition is switched on. This primes the system and if the engine is not started will switch off after about 20 seconds. Without the lift pump, there will still be enough fuel pressure for the vehicle to start but it will probably stall at anything above idle speed because the high pressure pump can't pull sufficient fuel from the tank without it. Failing that; i would be looking at a crankshaft sensor. When these are beginning to fail they are affected by temperature changes and even a moderate warming up will be enough to break the contacts.
