Leisure batteries

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am after some advice on leisure batteries. I need a new 110amp battery. Has anyone used a Titanium battery(Titanium is the brand name) ? These are only about £60 or should I pay the extra for a well known brand ? I look forward to any suggestions.

Thanks,

Richard

Expert advice (and received wisdom) suggests that you would be better to buy a Varta LFD90 battery

(The Varta battery has very similar physical dimensions to the Titanium XV110 product if that should be an issue.)

Richard,

Over on my own thread (Battery size/type) I received the same advice as Derek has given regarding suitable replacement batteries from aandacaravans who appear to have quite and in depth knowledge of leisure battery use. They too recommend the Varta LFD90 and that is what I will change mine to next.

The Trojan 12v batteries mostly like a Float Charge of 13.2v, when the majority of Motorhome/Caravan chargers Float charge at 13.8v.

Their life can be significantly shortened if left on EHU during long term in storage.

See charging spec of a 12v 105Ah Trojan here : http://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/datasheets/27TMX_Trojan_Data_Sheets.pdf

I took A&N's advice about leisure batteries on their site two years ago and bought the Varta they recommended. Despite the cries of anguish from a couple of the forum gurus their advice was spot on then and is spot on now. The battery has performed without fault and have never needed solar panels, two batteries, generators etc.
