olley
hi Dicky, to answer your questions, so far Norfolk line haven't charged me any more, but some ferries do both here and abroad. Most people have their RV's converted to 240v, the conversion normally consists of a 240v ring with sockets off and a reversible 240-110v tranny. When your on EHU all your 110v appliances work ie. fridge, aircon etc. and when you are off EHU and you start the 110v Genny it reverse feeds the tranny and livens your 240 sockets. You are also some alterations to the vehicle lights, costs vary but DIY £500. professional convert. £1000-£1500 I don't have much trouble in this country, but you have to be more careful abroad, especially south of France, Spain and Italy. its not just the width its the height, alot of campsites have trees to shade the pitches and these can cause problems. My fuel costs running on LPG are at least a third more, I get about the equivalent of 15MPG. Running on petrol about 9.5MPG. olley

olley
Hi Dicky, that what we love about it, with twin slides we get a large bedroom and lounge, full sized shower and bathroom. Their not for everbody, for some people a honda romahome is perfect and for others like me its an RV. I used to watch RV's when we had our european and dream of owning one, and I can honestly say its everything we thought it would be. We don't smoke, drink very little and have no hobbies apart from the RV, a very sad couple really. So the bit extra on fuel isn't an issue for us. One recent two week trip to the south of france it cost us about £555 in fuel, a european would have saved maybe £250 on that, but for us the comfort of the RV makes it well worth the extra £125 a week. You can't take it with you. (lol) (lol) Olley
