pauljanita
Can anybody advise if we are better off taking Kunas for restaurants, bars and campsites, or whether it makes no difference paying in euros, if euros are accepted everywhere? Many thanks in advance. Janita
Bojitoes
Hi Janita We were on a cruise to Croatia a couple of months ago and a couple of bars we stopped at refused to take Euros. Undoubtedly others will post that everyone accepts Euros , but this was our experience. It's a beautiful country so enjoy your trip bob
Bulletguy
Kuna......very few places accept euro. Fantastic country particularly along the coastal road but it's not cheap by any means.
Brian Kirby
Bulletguy - 2016-01-07 9:48 PM Kuna......very few places accept euro. Fantastic country particularly along the coastal road but it's not cheap by any means. Until Croatia joins the Eurozone you will be better off with Kuna. All places will accept them, and of those who do accept Euros, I'd be wary of the Kuna/Euro exchange rate on offer.
HymerVan
You should explore getting a SUITABLE credit card such as Halifax clarity. This will give you a much better rate of exchange than getting cash from say M&S or Post Office with greater flexibility. However remember that if you use it to draw cash interest starts as soon as the cash is drawn however for a short holiday this may still work out better especially if you pay off the debit on your account as soon as it is created. To be clear you should aim as far as possible to have NO debit balance on your account. This takes a bit of care and management but is very effective. Do not use "ordinary" credit or debit cards because they have transaction charges and adverse exchange rates which can make the wrong card VERY expensive. Cliffy
Dont buy Kuna before you go, as soon as you cross the border there are exchange kiosks that offer good rates. You can use banks to exchange euros. If you buy them before you go you could have a load of currency left over that is usless outside Croatia. I am assuming of course that you have either a credit card with good foreign currency rates and charges or a pre-loaded currency card for big amounts such as a weeks site fees. We loved Croatia and the people and we loved Slovenia, it is a good place to stop on route, Lake Bled and Ljubjana particularly Have a good trip
chris
Kuna. When you cross the border cash there or wait till a service station on motorway and use your credit card in hole in wall. Kuna everywhere. You can use euros on the tolls and some trips etc. Chris
