busy builder
Hello I'm new to motor homing, and will shortly be the proud owner of a 2009 Hymer T552CL Ford MH. I live up in the Highlands with my wife (SWMBO) and George the English Pointer. Hopefully we will be doing lots of wild camping over on the West coast once we have the hang of this MH lark we should able to do Spain or France :-D I can't find much info on the T552Cl, can someone please explain what Hymer T class is ? Derek Uzzell
Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums, Andrew. I believe the “T” is simply Hymer’s way of indicating that the motorhome is a “Teilintegrierte” design. “Teilintegrierte” translates to “semi-integrated” in English and - in UK motorhome-speak - “semi-integrated” equates to a “low profile” design of motorcaravan with no sleeping accommodation above the cab. Three examples of the breed are shown in this pro-mobil "Comparison Test Slim Semi-integrated” article http://www.promobil.de/test/vergleich-schlanke-teilintegrierte-1040377.html Hymer’s particular use of the “T” won’t necessarilly apply to other manufacturers. For instance, when Hobby started building motorhomes on a Ford chassis in 2004, the company used a “T” to indicate that the vehicle was built on a “Transit”. There’s an example in the following link that shows a Transit-based Hobby with a bed over the cab. http://www.practicalmotorhome.com/reviews/motorhome/30067-hobby-siesta-t-650-ak-klc
