Campfos Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I was away in my motorhome this weekend and the doors side glasses. We're constantly being covered in road dirt to the extent you could not see the mirrors. Now I can't remember this being the case before I fitted the mirror guards. Anyone else experienced this and if so did they cure without removing the guards. Campfos
spospe Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I have Mirror Guards with short arms fitted to a Warwick Duo and never had this problem at all. Has your van got the long arms? (maybe this is part of the problem?)
Keith T Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I have the Mirror Guards on my Burstner MH , which has the wide arm mirrors, and have not experienced anything different - cannot see why they should affect the amount of rain/dirt as they are effectively the same size as the original housing.
BernieC Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 No problems here either with mirror guards fitted to long armed mirrors on Swift Sundance.
mikejkay Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 No problems with mine (long). Proved their worth last week when I suffered a mirror to mirror strike which popped the main mirror out. Popped right back in, no other damage other than a scuff on the shell which I expect will polish out.
globebuster Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I would imagine the obvious, logical reason is road salt from spreading........ At this time of year, even down in the relatively mild south west, my car is covered [including windows] with a thin film of grey crud from road spray.
mikebeaches Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 globebuster - 2016-01-18 11:32 AM I would imagine the obvious, logical reason is road salt from spreading........ At this time of year, even down in the relatively mild south west, my car is covered [including windows] with a thin film of grey crud from road spray. I'd suspect this could be the answer. We were travelling in the car this weekend - Lake District to Yorkshire Dales then back home to Bristol. The state of the muck coming up off the M6 and M5 was awfull - as is normally the case in this type of weather. Roll on spring... However, must add how stunning the scenery was in the Lakes and the Dales with the snow. Wouldn't have missed seeing it for anything, and all the muck on the strategic routes is part of the price we pay.
