Dadswell
Assuming it is safer for a child to travel in a front passenger seat with seat belt, than on a side passenger seat in the back of the van, without any form of restraint, will it be illegal for the child to travel up front when the new laws come in? I have checked with my insurance and there seems to be no problem travelling in the front or rear for any passengers. I understand and accept all the issues with regards to safety etc. Also I think I understand the new laws in respect of them only applying to new vehicles after 2007 and to older vehicles only being able to carry passengers on side facing seats after 2009, providing no forward facing seats with seat belts are already fitted. Can anybody clarify the situation for me, because if there was only the driver and the child, it seems to me completetly crazy for the child to be alone in the back - not that I would allow this anyway? Dadswell
Apologies I have somehow sent two messages on the same subject. However all answers welcome on either!
