jonmo Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi my problem is the unit when plugged into 240v mains does not appear to be charging the batteries anyone have a answer to this?
Tracker Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi Johnnie and welcome to the forum. It is difficult to diagnose a fault from the information available but assuming that all the switches, circuit breakers and fuses are correct and there is nothing in your handbook that has been missed, then the best people to ask would be Sargents whose tech team are very knowledgeable and helpful and you can contact them via their website or by telephone.
jonmo Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Hi thanks for ur reply have sent them a email but no reply as yet.
Rayjsj Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Jonmo, They also have a website, with downloads of useful information, including user manuals, advanced user manuals with dealer information and settings and wiring diagrams. All good stuff. www.sargentshop.co.uk
Tracker Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 All vans differ and you have not told us the make, model and age of yours but the manual, either the one you should have or the online version should tell you where all the fuses are schematically at least. Locating them on the van can sometimes be a bit more of a challenge as can tracing the wiring from one part to another. I doubt you will get a reply from Sargents over the weekend? If you are electically competent it should be easy enough to determine where the mains supply reaches - but DO NOT fiddle with it if you are not sure as 230v can kill. Does everything else mains supplied work? Does the leisure battery charge when the engine is running? Similarly it should be easy enough to determine how far back towards the contol box the 12 v from the battery flows but again unless you know what you are doing be very careful and do this with the mains input disconnected as you can do a lot of expensive damage if you are not careful. Diagnosis is a process of elimination starting with the easiest and it helps if you have a digital multimeter to check voltage and continuity at various points.
calypso Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi we had the same problem ..it was a loose connection in the Sargent box ..we had an auto electrician in he took the cover off the box and found it ...hope this helps
