passionwagon
Go to http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl and see what ken is proposing during 2008 for the Greater London Area. In the consultation document it specifically says some horseboxes and motorhomes will be included-I presume all those over 3500kgs. The M25 will be very crowded! Get your responses in the post as February 2007 is closing date. Once London goes other cities will follow.
flicka
Who WANTS to go there anyway, I only go if Business dictates. Much prefer to keep away from the place and get out in the Countryside. Flicka

W3526602
Hi, About three years ago I had a telephone conversation with a firm making gas conversions. The man told me that some Ford Transits are taken off the production line, go into his factory to be fitted with LPG equipment, then returned to the Ford factory for completion. He prophesied that some day soon, NO polluting vehicle will be allowed into towns, but that delivery vans will still be requiired, hence the adaptions during manufacture. I wonder if my camper can be fitted with booms to locate on tram wires? Does anybody know the emission figure for a London Taxi?
passionwagon
(?) Please remember we must have many motorhomers within the M25 circuit-let's work as team! ;-)
howie
Reducing traffic congestion/pollution in our city centres has to be the way forward, but until money is spent on first class public transport, then this latest plan can only be regarded as a political/revenue raising exercise and treated with the contempt it deserves. mansell
PUBLIC TRANSPORT DOES NOT WORK IN RURAL AREAS. KEEP TRYING IT WILL HAPPEN.
howie
It does work Mansell, but while this goverment does its best to get private cars off the road it withdraws subsidies for rural public transport at the same time. Howard.

Howard.[/QUOTE] to protect the countryside - we don't need hunting n shooting n deflowering wenches by the local squires, but we do need sub post offices good transport and good roads. since moving to the East Riding I've been astonished by the dismal state of the roads - no cats eyes [invented by a tyke albeit a westie] very little white lines abysmal drainage. oops - rant over :$ B-) ps - I'm a big fan of P+R, but too few are designed for us! David Dwight
Howard, Public transport dont work. We have to be at work for 7 am mornings and when on late shift leave off at 10-30 pm, Sundays 7 am to 8-30pm. Now there are no buses at that time and none on Sundays. The nearest bus stop is about 2 miles from work. Problem !!!!!!!!!! Tony Blair still rides 300yds in a big Jag. As for Prescott sorry I did not mean to swear!! howie
Sorry, I missed that David. This deflowering of wenches has stirred something deep in my memories. No good, its gone now. Public transport don,t work because we don,t have enough of it and until we do we will all travel by car regardless of the cost, which might be what B and B have had in mind all along. Howard. flicka
Hi Brian I certainly don't mean to offend you. It's just I prefer not to go to London by choice. It's the place, (too hemmed in by buildings, for me) not the people. As you may guess I am NOT a City person. If I do have to go I wouldn't travel there in my M/H. Flicka. It was about a horse, if memory serves. I thought you may have read the same book and got the pseudonym from there. London, I can take or leave. Worked there for years, but generally wouldn't visit unless I had reason.
flicka
Hi Brian No offence taken. That's exactly where the nickname originated, it was changed to Flick, but they had to be very careful how they wrote that, so it reverted back. Suppose they were trying to tell me I looked or sounded like a horse. You haven't heard me laugh !!!!!!! Flicka
