Cold bottom in fixed bed!

The OH didn't much like his position in the fixed bed this week because he was next to the side of the van and it was very cold to the touch. His solution was that we swap sides (he loves me really) but I am looking for a better one that does not involve such self sacrifice. Any ideas? (^)

Looking at pics of your van it appears to have a big window that side and i'm guessing the bed is small, about 4'6"?

If that's correct I would be looking to make up something like an internal 'silver screen' held in place by half dozen or so press studs.

The inside wall of a van is cold at night, especially in February, and the glib answer is not to lay against it!

If there is a locker door below the bed you might check that is it shutting properly without any air gaps that let in yet more cold air.

Something like this along the wall might help?

Thanks all! I've found the silver insulation stuff on sale in a roll on 'tinternet and think this could be the best solution. Going to be a must in March when we head for the Alps. You are right about the bed Colin its no bigger than 4ft 6ins. We do have the option of using the side facing seat layout as a single bed for one of us but it's not going to be me! This would mean I could allow the dog on the bed on condition that she takes the cold side, has a good wash and brush up before bedtime and doesn't pass wind or snore during the night. Need to impose the same conidtions on the OH come to think of it. (lol)

That's brilliant Tracker, so much cheaper than the stuff sold as a motorhome accessory I'm getting me down to Wickes. You may have saved our marriage!

Ah a new vocation for me, as well as renowned diplomat I might be known as a marriage conservation specialist!

A word of caution Violet, I have never tried it (insulation I mean) so there are no promises to cure all ills, but at worst it can do no harm!

Violet1956 - 2016-02-13 2:16 PM................. Going to be a must in March when we head for the Alps. .....................

Have you checked the need for chains/winter tyres at that time of year in the Alps? Many smaller passes don't open at all until quite late, some into June, and many have a requirement to fit chains if on snow between fixed dates. Germany (and I believe Austria) also requires winter tyres roughly October 'till March. Haven't checked precise dates, but vehicle owners who get into trouble within the stipulated period are liable to fines if not on winter tyres. Just a thought!

To get back to the original question....there are plenty of dating/introduction sites on the internet 8-)

I wish you luck in finding a different OH (lol)

Perhaps I should consider a different MH before thinking about changing the OH....or maybe you have a point. A skinny bloke about 5ft 6ins tall might do it.

We're going to France Brian so just need the chains. Have started my research on what is best to buy. Having used chains on cars in the past I am very tempted by some brilliant Thule ones that just clamp around the wheel and have a one handle adjustment. They are almost £400 but they might save me from the swearing, shouting and lacerated hands of the past.
