mikejkay Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I am changing my motorhome and will be taking my Mirror Guards with me. Does anyone know where to get replacement shock absorbing self adhesive pads? I have emailed Mirror Guard and have had no response. :'( . Alternatively can anybody suggest a suitable alternative? I don't think that ordinary double sided tape will be man enough for the job.
rolandrat Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Double sided tape that's used for car number plates or similar is more that adequate for the job.
ken the kontiki Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 This stuff sticks most things to anything http://www.amazon.co.uk/UniBond-More-Nails-Permanent-Roll/dp/B001DYS76Q. Also at Screwfix, B&Q etc.. http://www.unibond.co.uk/en/diy-adhesives/no-more-nails/no-more-nails-on-a-roll.html
mikejkay Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 I think that the thickness of the pads provides some shock absorbing function. I suppose that using three or four layers would do the trick. Or maybe stick tape onto mthe existing pads provided that they are not too badly damaged during removal.
Rayjsj Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I removed my mirrorguards, I bought a small sheet of closed cell black neoprene foam, 10mm thick with adhesive backing, replaced the pads, with larger pads. Superglued the foam pads to the mirrorguards, the foam pads act as a shock absorber. The original pads fell apart on removal, but I was able to check their thickness, 10mm.
mikejkay Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 Thanks for that. Can you tell me what the closed cell foam was for originally?
Rayjsj Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 No idea, but it is the same stuff that the original pads were made from (feels the same any way). Got it from Ebay.
