Engine management light

Took the van (fiat ducato multi jet 2.3 2010) for first spin of the day today about twenty miles each way to wire Forrest and the yellow engine warning light was on. The only other thing I could spot was coolant level low but don't think this would make the light come on.

Any ideas where to start?

The only way to find out is with a fault code reader.

 

Identify and clear the fault code and see if it returns as sometimes it is just a one off event that triggers it.

 

I have one which works for me on both Fiat and Peugeot engines but I know from a previous thread that others have had problems getting them to work.
