fairweather camper Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Hi Is there a place in Santander where you can buy wine, (like at Calais) or should we buy it in Spain before we leave. Thanks
yoko8pups Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 There are lots of shops in the town which is right by the ferry but it could be expensive as they have a captive audience so to speak. You'll pass a Mercadonna on the way uptowards the ferry, I would try there, lovely sparkling (brut) €1.80!
Mike88 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Wine is sold in the old terminal building (if its still there) and at a surprisingly reasonable price. Obviously it will be cheaper elsewhere but OK as a last resort.
Bojitoes Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 We shopped in the old terminal building a couple of weeks ago on our way back. There is a good stock of both wine and spirits at prices which would be seen as very cheap in the UK but quite a lot more expensive than Mercadona or Eroski. Ideal however for a last minute top up if you find you have a bit of free space! There is also a Tabac just around the corner from the dock for those who want cigarettes and tobacco. We did not know until this trip that you could book in at Santander dock and they will give you a ticket to leave the dock to go shopping , have a walk, or drink, in the town. We could never imagine that in the UK! If you have time and are coming from Bibao direction there is a nice little town called Laredo before you get to Santander which is worth a stop. Have a good trip Bob
