tugga
Today I booked our ferry home from St Malo to Portsmouth and the only date we could get was 7th July. I have checked a few campsites that appear to be fully booked so have looked at some aires. There is one that is serviced Rue Paul Feval but looking at it on Google Earth, it looks closed. Has anybody used it lately or can recommend one. We only want to stay for one night and will be coming up from Spain so from the South. Thanks for your help. Solwaybuggier
I think there's one at Rotheneuf, just N of St Malo - looks like it's possibly an municipal site? And from memory I think there's a big aire which is only open in season - could it be the one you mentioned? I think it's at an exhibition centre? robertandjean
We were on aire at Rotheneuf five days last week. It is a first class aire, used to be a municipal camp site, but like a few others now just for motorhomes. All pitches, around 80, are of good size, clearly marked out and with electric hook-ups. Pitches are however, on grass and can be soft after heavy rain. Bus stop adjacent to aire gives direct access to St Malo old town for €1.30 each way. Price per night varies according to season ; now cost is €5.50/night, this changes to €7 early April and 12€ in July/August. Aire closes mid November but reopens for the Christmas/New Year period. One word of warning this, rightly, is a very popular aire and whilst fairly quiet whilst we were there come July/August an early arrival may be prudent. lynneroy
The municipal campsite just up above the ferry terminal was cheap and very convenient, we could walk down to the town and harbour in a few minutes, perhaps you have tried it and it is full, but if not it is worth considering.
