Battery charging

Assuming you are talking about the large red illuminated switch actually on the PSU2007 then No. This only turns on the mains charger when you are plugged into EHU. Without EHU this will have absolutely no effect on battery charging.

To check, unplug your EHU, start the engine and check the display for the message 'Engine Started, System Disabled'. This confirms that the PSU2007 is receiving the 'Engine Running' signal.

If you really want to double check, again with EHU unplugged measure the voltage at the leisure battery terminals with the engine off then start the engine. The first reading should be somewhere around 12.0 to 12.7 volts and when the engine is started this should rise to something over 13 and maybe even over 14 volts.

Best way of checking is to measure resting voltage at starter and leisure battery.

Start engine with Sargent NOT turned on. Check voltage at starter and leisure with engine running - there should be an increase in voltage. If not, switch on Sargent and recheck voltages.

If starter battery in engine compartment be aware of moving parts.
