jaypoll
We have a new 06 Van conversion with one of those annoying radios that dies after 15-20 minutes when the ignition is switched off. As we are great radio listeners this is very annoying and I know that other vans have this problem and have read somewhere that it can be overcome. Renault dealer is unable to help and suggests an auto-electrician but I would like to know the pros and cons before we go down that route. Any suggestions please, Karen and John
John H
Hi Jaypoll, If you do a search for "Fiat radio linked to ignition" you will find out what you need to know. Regards, John.
Dave Newell
It should be possible to add a secondary manual switch (in a convenient place) to overcome this. It needs to connect from the permanent live to the ignition switched live via the switch but you'll also need to put a diode into the ignition switched feed to prevent backfeeding into other ignition controlled accessories. This is a mod I've done several times for customers with the chosen position for the switch often being in the habitation area, its nice to be able to switch the radio on or off from your bed. D.
