Wirehaired
Don't tell me there is nobody out there who has used them. :-D
Cliffy
I personally have not heard of them. I am with ADAC which is German and offers very good service and cover for an exceptionally low cost. The only down side is that the paperwork is in German. They do have English speakers for joining and call out. If you search "ACAC" on this forum you will find plenty of threads. Sorry this does not answer your question.
Keith T
not heard of the company you name, but mine is with my Motorhome Insurance via Safeguard, and is included in the price for the year. It is very reasonable, and compares with other providers giving insurance only, so effectively costs me very little. Whilst as my motorhome is 'compact' at 6m depending you what you have, if on the larger size, often going direct to AA/RAC etc they will not cover, though using them via the Van insurance full cover is provided. Robbo
Also with Safeguard, UK/European breakdown cover included in the premium with the AA. Comfort insurance also do it but it's an add on at about £60 for European cover by RAC. Have used the RAC breakdown service in mainland Europe and it is very good with overnight stay in hotel while problem was fixed. You still have to pay for the repair work but they direct you to a suitable garage and liasie with the workshop and keep you updated on progress. You pay for the hotel upfront and reclaim the cost on your return (not including meals).
Derek Uzzell
Wirehaired It’s likely that most motorcaravanners wishing to have UK/European breakdown insurance will either obtain cover as part of (or as an add-on to) their ordinary motor insurance policy (eg. from Safeguard or Comfort Insurance) or from one of the ‘main players’ like the AA or the Caravan Club. So it should not be too surprising if participants of a relatively small on-line forum have no direct experience of Driver Guardian. A summary of the Driver Guardian motorhome product is here: http://www.driverguardian.co.uk/European-Motorhome-Breakdown-Cover.aspx (Note that the standard motorhome policy has trip-duration and motorhome age/mileage and dimensions/weight restrictions.) Len Salisbury
Some readers of this Forum may recall my experience when my partner fell and broke her Femur whilst in Belgium last September. We had breakdown cover but the M/H was not broken down neither was the driver (me). I couldn't see anything mentioned in that cover of yours about this sort of thing. Although my partner was airlifted home and me escorting her the M/H was still in Belgium. Green Flag arranged for me to fly to Brussels and paid train and taxi expenses. itz
Wirehaired - 2016-04-10 6:44 PM Don't tell me there is nobody out there who has used them. :-D I have recently taken out cover with Driver Guardian, I am lucky enough not to have needed their services, but the price was right and I couldn't find any negatives on the internet, I called them with a couple of queries before taking out cover and the call centre staff were friendly and helpful.
