someshds
Hello, I recently removed all the wheels on my Fiat Ducato 1999 in order to spray the hubs chrome. They where looking rather tired and rusty. I had a problem with my one wheel nut. It wouldnt go on properly. Unfortunately in the process of trying to get it on, it's now not looking too healthy and wont get a grip on the thread in the wheel casing. Anyone had this before, any advice please? Dave225
All I can say is that if you cannot get the nut to thread, or tighten properly then you need to get it fixed as soon as possible as driving in that condition is dangerous. If the hub is damaged then you need anew one, if oit is just the wheel bolt then get a new one. Have you tried another bolt in the same hole and vice versa? Billggski
I assume you mean a wheel bolt that screws into the hub. Sorry if I'm mistaken. Check which part has threaded, if it's the bolt, try another in the same hole. If it's the hole, you can cut a new thread with a thread cutter, but you may need a new hub. Not expensive and easy to change.
747
Get the hole tapped out to clean up the thread and fit a new bolt (throw the old one away).
someshds
Hiya, thanks for all the great advice. I'll take it past a garage and get a new bolt. I'll also try and see if a bolt from another hole will fit. I'll update here on the fix. :-)
someshds
Correct, it's the wheel bolt that fits into the hub.
