cask
How can you add a remote led for a thetford fridge when running on 12v, on the move, as the one on the panel cannot be seen from the drivers seat?
Robbo
The question must be asked - do you really need a remote LED for the fridge? When you start the engine, with the vehicle stationary, just nip back and check the fridge is working on 12 volt.
Charles
Yes just wire one in parallel and half the size of the current limiting resistor. (Or don't bother with the resistor bit, it will probably be ok) Seems an awful faff though.
aandncaravan
Presumably you want to run a wire from the Fridge to an LED somewhere on the Dash so you can see when the Fridge is 'on' which, as the others say might be quite time consuming to get a tidy cable run without compromising reliability? You can buy very bright LED's that when lit, even in the rear of the vehicle, are visible from the front of the vehicle. If you mount a bright Red 12v LED, wired via a fuse from the back of the Fridge 12v element, into the worktop above the Fridge it should be bright enough to light up the Cupboard/ceiling above it without a complex cable run? The Red glow should be easily visible from the Drivers seat via the mirror? You could optionally wire the LED via a switch accessible from an adjacent Cupboard if you want to extinguish it at any time. A very bright LED mounted in the front of the Fridge top panel might also give out a glow visible via the drivers mirror, yet use almost zero power?
