Pete-B
The category P on my driving licence allows me to ride a two wheeled vehicle at up to 31mph so how is it I can only ride my lecky bike at a max of 15 mph, after all it's a 2 wheeled vehicle? I guess my local bobby would have something to say though!
bolero boy
because to stay below the moped category (ie a bike) electric bikes haveto conform with a few regs.... max assisted speed 25kph, max motor power 250w you can get more powerful leccy bikes, max assisted speed 40kph, max motor power 350w and these will be mopeds, for which you are licenced....they also MUST be insured, registered and taxed, although the current VED rate is zero. Charles
Maybe because you don't need 3rd party insurance or pay road tax (err.. that's if you don't.. I know nothing about them) (lol)
Pete-B
Suppose it make sense once you start talking about tax and insurance!
