TVA 750 trailer

Recommended Posts

We are thinking of buying a trailer to take our electric bikes in, at present we have them on a towbar mounted rack but we are thinking that when we go for longer periods of time, they will be stowed in the dry and secured. We have searched and come up with the TVA 750 box van trailer, which is sold by SBS trailers in Scotland, we have seen these for sale on various sites but the internal dimensions seem to vary widely to such an extent that we are wondering if our bikes will fit the headroom given. We would like to try one out for size and wonder if anyone knows where they are made or sold further south so that we can do this before buying? Thank you anyone who can offer advice.

Small luggage trailers can work well with a MH and you see plenty of them in use.  Reversing can be a challenge (because of the short length) but you can make that easier by fitting a reversing camera to your MH if it does not already have one.

There is a wide choice of small box van type trailers which would take electric bikes and they crop up regularly on EBay, so you could save some money by buying second hand.  Mainstream makes like Ifor Williams hold their price well and sell easily, so if you buy cannily and the plan doesn't work out you should get most of your money back.  If you buy a new one then you must expect to suffer more in the way of depreciation.

A small box trailer like an Ifor Williams BV64 is perhaps the obvious choice but there is little penalty in terms of fuel consumption etc from choosing a bigger trailer if you have the storage space at home, as long as your driving licence covers towing it.  You can get the dimensions from the Ifor Williams website.  An Ifor Williams BV84G might be suitable for example and would give you standing height inside.  I have used the bigger BV105G behind our MH to transport a GoldWing motorcycle and it towed very well.

Trailer dealers also sell used trailers, so that's a source too.   Ideally of course you try your bikes in the trailer before you buy it, to ensure that the internal securing system will work for you.  I don't suppose there are many trailer dealers in Jersey but there are lots of them in France as well as UK.

SBS Trailers' website suggests that they are in Wolverhampton and not up north in Scotland.

Also Google finds stockists (or resellers at least) in Surrey and Essex both of which are further south still.
