Gas problem with fridge

Is the gas turned ON and is there gas in the bottle/tank?

Is there gas at the fridge/burner? (it takes a while to flush out the air if it has not been used for a some time)

Is there an ignition spark?

Model may help with answers from those more knowledgeable than me.

Just had the same problem with our 2007 Tracker. The mobile engineer fixed it on Monday and it was the wiring loom, he has replaced it and it is fine now. It is apparently a common fault. Problem being that the wires in the loom are so thin that they break and sometimes they will re-connect and then come apart again.

Dometic Fridge/Freezers need to be on as level ground as possible or the gas system won't work.

Take off the outside grill, slide catches usually easy to move, and use a soft brush to wipe away any dirt, spiders, flies, etc.

Then if level and clean try to start the Dometic on gas – listen outside the MH with your ear reasonably close and see if you can hear the ignition attempting to start the burner.

If no ignition spark or sign of life take the MH to an expert who knows what they're doing with gas appliances.

Do not attempt to repair it yourself if unqualified.

PS – don't smoke while trying to sort out the problem!

On a 2005 model you should have 3 warning lights next to the selector switch showing GAS, 230V and 12V.

The 230V and 12V are green and the GAS is amber, what does the amber light show when you are trying to run the fridge on gas please?

Keith.

Our has the same lights but the Amber (gas) light was constantly flickering and not ignighting hence the new wiring loom.

is gas getting to the cooker burners, it is easy to overlook this basic test in the curffal of another problem.

If the gas is, it's back to fridge problem.

If no gas at the burners, something obvious like empty cylinder, (you will not be the first to be caught by this ). Cylinder ok? Then could be a regulator fault. Do you have a system that has to set by pressing buttons on the pressure hose then the regulator ?

Back to the fridge,

When switched on to the gas supply, you should hear a clicking noise in the vents.

This the pizzo trying to light the gas.

If there is no clicking, either the gas is alight, (top vent warm ?). Or the pizzo circuit is faulty.

Enough to be getting on with ;-)

Rgds

Edit,

A lot of caravan fittings are universal, so it might be worth trying a local caravan dealer service point, rather than trundling off to a distant mhome dealer.

Thanks everyone for your time and advice really useful . Checked the loom looks ok,gas light is orange, don't smoke .checked it for the 4th time today and the ignition was fine as always.i think the new gas bottle took time to flow properly as it's working perfectly now. Thanks once again guys.
