Douzeper
Chromecast is used for streaming your screen or an app from a tablet or phone. Works great but a bit tricky in the Motorhome as you really need three devices. The Chromecast has to connect to the likes of a MiFi./Dongle, then the device you are using to play the content also connects to the MifI/Dongle and then streamed to a TV with the chromecast plugged into the HDMI port. You cannot use the data in the same device that you play the content from. So you can't stream from your phone using your phone data connection. Also if you tether to a phone connection with your chromecast and a tablet or laptop, then you are limited on data as most tethering has data limitations. veletron
Hi I use a chromecast in the van occasionally, it requires you to have a mifi installed and is controlled with your mobile. Doing anything with the chromecast requires an internet connection - even streaming local content from your phone to the chromecast requires an initial internet connection to download the app that the chromecast needs to run. More useful IMHO is the amazon TV stick. Chromecast is good for casting though to view photos on your phone on the big screen, casting video direct from the phone does not work as well. The amazon stick has a remote and does not rely on the phone to be a remote, bbc iPlayer, netflix etc all work well provided you can get about 3Mbits/sec of bandwidth. AndyLou
If you have an Android phone you can buy an adapter to connect it to a TV via HDMI. The TV then just shows everything that is on the phone. You might be able to do this with Apple TV but I think that would require MiFi.
