Guest Roy Hamilton Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Can anyone tell me if I can take my 'van direct to a Vehicle Inspectorate testing centre (Used to be HGV Test Satation). I am finding difficulty in the St Autell area finding an car test station big enough for 24ft and 3500 GVW. There is a test centre about a mile from my home. Test is the first at 3 years. Thanks.
Guest Clive Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 YES I believe is the answer. Telephone them first and check though. I used our Local (Newbury) HGV Test Station for our converted coach several years back (7.5 tonne and no power steering)
Guest PeteC Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 If they will not take you! Have you got a truck servicing depot near you?
Guest Mel E Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Sorry, it's a bit more complicated than the replies suggest. A motorhome requires a Class 4 MoT just like cars. Commercial vehicles require Class 7. Most truck dealers are only registered to carry out Class 7 MoTs and not Class 4, so you need to check I'm afraid.
