I was walking along the path in Rhyl and saw a yellow notice tied to the lampposts so took a look and it was an order from the local council implementing a ban on overnight parking by motorhomes ,welcome to Rhyl! Rhyl is not exactly helston more hell hole every other shop is closed or a charity shop so why be anti motorhomes the town needs all the visitor income it can get. Although the town needs levelling The prom is actually very nice, and a pleasant walk!

I did take a pic but can't work out how to post it !

Sadly that's indicative of the brain dead numpties our rates are paying for *-) ........

Didn't know you lived in Rhyl Dave..

p.s. I wonder why there is a ban - maybe it's another waste dumping issue ?

I've seen motorhomes and caravans parked along the prom for weeks on end, even putting gas cylinders outside, a sure sign of long-term staying. It had to come.

Are they from the motorhome fraternity or the Traveller/Gypo? ;-) .......

That's the trouble now days *-).........the authorities are reluctant to challenge the latter......so ban the former in the hope of curing the problem.......as if the the latter gives a sh*t either way..........they'll just dump it anywhere they like :-| .........

This 2013 thread form the Wildcamping forum refers to motorhome parking at Rhyl

https://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/motorhome-chat/26335-rhyl-positive-news-mh-parking.html#post277924

However, by 2014, a less ‘welcoming’ attitude had evidently become prevalent in West Wales seaside towns, particularly regarding seafront parking.

Herefordshire Council provides information about motorhome parking on this wenpage

https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/transport-and-highways/parking/car-parks-council

For motorhome parking at Ross-on-Wye the Red Meadow car park is suggested. However this car park has been occupied repeatedly by ‘travellers’ causing Ross-on-Wye residents (especially those who live nearby) to be right royally peeved, as not only do the travellers take up many of the parking spaces, they invariably leave junk in their wake that needs to be cleared up.

To deter travellers from overnight parking, installation of a height-barrier at Red Meadow car park’s main entrance has been approved. A financial contribution to the installation-cost will be made by Herefordshire Council (who get the revenue from the parking charges) but the remainder of the bill will be picked up by Ross-on-Wye ratepayers.

and it will be noted that, although it has been the travelling community that has been the problem historically, ‘leisure' caravans and motorhomes are considered in the same light.

As for the Rhyl parking restriction, There may well be something about it in the Council Info section of the Rhyl Town Council website

but the simplest way to find out more would be to ask the Council

(Now that The Donald has taken office in the USA, you might consider tweeting Rhyl Council.)
