I have just acquired a 1955 Bond Minicab and need to get a trailer to take the car to Club meets. Has anyone out there got a trailer suitable for a light three wheeler they might like to sell?

Pm pleas.

I haven't got what you are looking for but know someone who may be able to help you. Finding a trailer specifically built for a 3 wheeler is going to prove extremely difficult, but finding a light flat metal trailer which could be converted would work.

Contact this place here; http://www.taylormadecastings.co.uk/contact_us.htm and ask to speak to John Humphries. No idea if he's still there as he's in his 70's now, but he was a couple of years back. He's an old mate of mine so just tell him Paul suggested you contact him.

John is a brilliant engineer plus car fanatic too having owned a variety of collectable cars including Morgans and is still involved with the Morgan CC.

Thankyou for that, Paul. I will try to contact this gentleman tomorrow.

Oh, I have just noticed a 'typo' in my original posting. The car is a Minicar, not a Minicab!

No problem......i knew exactly what you meant anyway! http://oi65.tinypic.com/24myipd.jpg

I was fiddling around with cars when there was still a fair few of those around and you'd pick one up for peanuts. I daren't ask what you paid for yours now!! Is it a restoration job or has it all been sorted?

John is an old mate from years back (i helped him restore an old 1950's Reliant 3 wheeler) though we don't keep regular contact. He's worked at Taylormade Castings his entire life. Restoring old cars has been his life long hobby.

Paull, The car in your link is a Mk D from about 1956/7. Mine is an earlier model, a mkC, in what was a 1970s Ford colour called Tawny Gold. It is in pretty good roadworthy condition and not needing much work at all - main requirement is new tyres. I paid more than I would have dreamt of before I saw this one, but it is exactly the same model and colour that my wife and I owned when we married 54 years ago, so I could hardly pass it by! Anyway, prices are rising and it will probably be a better investment than the Nationwide BS.

Cheers, Neil B

Maybe to help those who don't know Bonds, the main dimensions are

Overall length 9feet 10 inches, or 3.02M

Overall width 4feet 9inches, or 1.46M

Weight 460lbs, or 209 Kilos

One driven wheel at the front.

Usual practice is to draw the car onto a flat bed trailer with a winch, not attempt to drive it on!
