yorkist
Hi all, we need two Continental Vanco Tyre's for our MoHo, any advice on where to purchase would be much appreciated. Also do we need to buy the steel valves ourselves? Steel wheels by the way. Thanks Chris.
Mick Bajcar
I replaced four Continentals at F1 autocentre and they gave me a marginally better price than anywhere else. They were very good with me (mine were fitted at Newark, Notts) https://www.f1autocentres.co.uk/ Mick Bajcar
Agaric
So what size are they, as deals are sometimes on one size but not another, or there are stock issues.
Cliffy
Strangely enough I found that Halfords Auto Centre were the cheapest. Order on line and have them fitted locally at your convenience.. That was October last year but worth a try.
Keithl
yorkist - 2017-01-28 4:18 PM Also do we need to buy the steel valves ourselves? Steel wheels by the way. Thanks Chris. Chris, You do not necessarily need metal valves (IIRC they're normally brass not steel), although I personally would, as long the rubber valves that are used are of the 'High Pressure' variety capable of withstanding 80 psi. Normal 'Car' tyre valves are only suitable for something like 60 or 65 psi. Make sure you see evidence that rubber valves are suitable if you do go that route. Keith. Derek Uzzell
Chris Whether you’ll need to source the valves yourself will depend on whoever will be fitting the tyres having suitable ‘clamp-in’ valves in stock or being prepared to obtain them for you. I understand that you own a 2011 Autocruise Starfire on a Peugeot Boxer base. You haven’t said whether this already has clamp-in valves, but if it has it is common practice at tyre-replacement-time to just replace the valve’s core rather the complete valve. (This assumes of course, that there are no symptoms to suggest that the existing valves might not be in perfect condition.) As Keith has said, if you are not using high inflation-pressures (say, over 60psi) in your motorhome’s tyres, you do not need to fit clamp-in or 'high-pressure’ valves, but it’s certainly a good idea to do this. You can obtain clamp-in valves from here http://www.auto4.co.uk/valves-and-valve-hardware/clamp-in-valves and this valve is likely to be suitable for your Boxer http://www.auto4.co.uk/valves-and-valve-hardware/clamp-in-valves/clamp-in-valve-42mm-cw-16mm-nut Clamp-in valves need to be installed carefully and not over- or under-tightened. Tyre fitters may be unfamiliar with installing them, so you’d be wise to confirm that they know what they are doing!!
WhiteCheyenneMan
Last week, 215/75/R16 Vanco tyres were cheapest at F1, followed by Halfords, followed by Blackcircles. But I don't yet know whether they would fit High Pressure valves, nor whether they would be an extra cost.

Derek Uzzell
I’d expect a 2011 Starfire (review here) http://www.practicalmotorhome.com/reviews/motorhome/30018-autocruise-starfire to have had (as original equipment) tyres with a 215/70 R15CP specification and, if that were the case, for its wheels to have been fitted with Schrader-manufactured ‘metal’ clamp-in tyre valves. yorkist
Thank you all for your most helpful suggestions, which we will follow up. Will probably go the Halfords route, f1autocentres do not have a depot near us unfortunately. Chris.
monique.hubrechtsgm
If you have the choice go for metal valves which are mandatory at max 80 psi like CP Tyres. That is also the pressure of the max load of your Tyre. Increasing this pressure will not increase your tyre load.An advantage of metal valves is that you can screw on aftermarket tpms caps. like the tirimoni tm-240.It looks like the original closure cap which he replace but a bit larger in diameter. And whit a nice monitor for the front screen. Price 200 p. for four caps. The best in test by promobil germany. He monitor per tyre which even the std fiat can not do and the batterysystem is fine and a clear monitor. They do not have a safety interface like Al- Ko.
