seadog
Hi Has anyone got information on a budget air suspension kits, I seem to recall someone mentioning a kit around £300, which I find hard to believe!
Derek Uzzell
Fitting ‘genuine’ air suspension (ie. involving replacement of springs) will cost much more than £300. Fitting rear ‘air-assist’ (also termed ‘semi-air') is referred to here http://www.practicalmotorhome.com/advice/32011-air-assist-suspension-explained and the cost will depend on the motorhome’s chassis, with it being significantly more expensive if the chassis is the Al-Ko variety. The price of a basic rear ‘air-assist’ non-Al-Ko-chassis kit can be fairly reasonable (examples here) http://www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/dunlop_semi_air.htm#Ducato http://www.marcleleisure.co.uk/store/dunlop-suspension-peugeot-boxer-x244-2002-2006-p-2010.html http://www.air-suspension.co.uk/products.html (Not sure you’d be able to get a motorhome-suitable kit for £300, but under £400 should be easy enough.) Keith T
airsuspension.co.uk .....the company we used many years ago, and give airbag assisted rear suspension, which you can control from the cab. Initially required it due to the overhang on our Burstner which meant it grounded on our then driveway, but also found useful on ferries, and also levelling on some sites. monique.hubrechtsgm
Suppose you have a ducato rear. In that case a nice option is a air top consisting of two Siamese air bellows each side. The original rear suspension will be kept intact. Although looking simple you have a compressor, airlines.A control panel in the dash. Two pressure gauges and two switches for air pressure. Whit air lines connected. It is now promoted by pilote for free on their ducatos. To do a retrofit for 300 P forget it. The alko set for just the kit is about 1000 P before the brexit. :-D
