Trump 100% insane

Forget White House......it's men in white coats urgently needed.

Trump has now rescinded legislation Obama made keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Trump saw that as "discriminatory" and "depriving law-abiding Americans of their constitutional rights." *-)

I have to laugh. Every forum I go on the Trump thread titles just get funnier and funnier. :D

Totally insane but then we knew that already. What next I wonder? Free hand grenades for teachers to control unruly children. I was working in a school today for unruly children. I think it would be a good idea.

For goodness sake....when will the outpouring against one individual stop??
Yes Trump is an 'in your face' guy that a lot clearly do not like.....BUT....this issue was carried by the House of Representatives with a vote of  235-180.  So my question is what part of 'DEMOCRACY' is it that the 'luvvies' just don't get?  Is it that democracy is OK as long as it is their kind of democracy and every one agrees??....strange I thought that was a dictatorship..............

C'mon now Roger....you know that's just ridiculous and nothing to do with democracy or "luvvies". Basic common sense alone should be enough to tell anyone with a minimum of grey matter between the ears allowing people with a history of mental illness access to a gun licence is just plain stupid. You may as well dish out matches and dynamite to arsonists.

Ongoing psychiatric illness, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Autism, Personality disorders, preclude admission to the military forces so God knows what possessed the HoR to pass this madness through for mentally unstable citizens.

It seems they are all certifiably insane too.

I agree it is madness....BUT...My argument is that 'Trump' bashing is seemingly the 'in thing' right now and if only people would stop and think about it for a moment....this issue was 'democratically' carried by the House of Representatives by a vote of 235 to 180.  Now that is democracy in action....like it or not that's how democracy works.....the majority vote carries the day.....something a good many people seem incapable of accepting these days.

Now the democratic process allows for the Senate to deliberate and if it feels necessary amend, pass or indeed obstruct the process of the bill.......once again it is the democratic process....NOT the sole activity of Trump.  He 'might' appear dictatorial...(and in some minds is no doubt thought of as one....) but the fact remains that he can not enact legislation on his own.   Like it or not the US is a democracy with democratic procedures not a dictatorship hence I can not understand this ridiculous outpouring of rhetoric against one man.  If anyone/organisation is to be held accountable, and for those who feel it necessary vilify anyone/any entity for repealing this piece of legislation it is the US Congress not Trump alone.

Trump "bashing" is self inflicted Roger. You speak fondly of democracy so must surely realise the same democracy allows people to criticise and continue making the argument........or do you expect them to shut up and go away? Similar seems to be happening here in this country among people accusing the opposition of being "loony lefties", "luvvies", "losers", and "(Re)moaners". That thinking is a very dangerous path to go down.

To be honest, i'm at a complete loss how any right minded person can justify handing mentally ill people licenced access to serious weaponry, excusing it as their "democratic right". Gun killings in the US, American on American citizen already result in 12,000 deaths every year. Trump and his beloved NRA have just encouraged an increase to that figure.

Yes Congress could and should repeal it under the 1996 Review Act, but that's only ever been used successfully once 16 years ago under the Bush admin.

Madness?  Yes...Insane?...yes.  However the protesters really should be venting their displeasure towards Congress.  I suppose, possibly being media driven, it is understandable that 'Trump' (who is certainly a divisive figure) should have the target on his back.  However my comments were intended to focus on those aiming their emotions/thoughts/disgust etc etc solely at Trump.  Yes he is the figurehead of the American government 'but' it is not he alone that passed this incredibly stupid piece of legislation.  Protest by all means, show ones disgust etc etc but surely it should be aimed at those responsible for the act not just one man?

Trump was elected on the basis of his promise to "drain the swamp" of the corruption and malpractice of the political establishment and he is an expereienced and successful businessman, even if he also seems to be arrogant and a loose cannon, and he is taking rapid and direct action, which is a businessman's approach. He is alarming all sorts of establishement people in the process, including the establishment politicians of the EU, which Trump has declared to be another of his targets for change.

Is he going to do any good or will he just thrash around for a while and fail?  Probably too early to tell but it is at least possible that what he has started will sweep the civilised world with radical, anti-establishment change.  Too early to declate him insane too, even if he does have some really strange ideas, for example about Gun Law.

If you want to keep terrorists out of your Country you need to do better immigration checks and that might well include focussing on people from certain countries or regions and might also focus on people of particualr ethnic or religious groups, as we focused on searches among Catholics to look for the IRA during the Northern Ireland Troubles.  If Trump ends up being told that the US Constitution precludes what he needs to do, maybe he'll want to change those parts of the Constitution.  That's not necessarily a bad thing is it?

He's been in power a couple of weeks ... The figures you quote have nothing to do with him or his policies ... Maybe you might give him a bit of time to see if ANY of his policies work ... Shouldn't you be blaming the last President a little more regarding the gun crime or do you like him

It's damn stupidity......even you yourself said so last night and that's a turn up for the books!!

Gun crime in US has long been a problem as everyone knows and the 2nd Amendment a hugely contentious issue fueled by the fanaticism and power of the NRA which no President, including Obama, has ever managed to bring into line. However, at least Obama took guns out of the hands of mentally unstable or people with mental health issues where Trump (with HoR) repealed that to hand them their guns back. Brilliant. As mentioned in a previous post, all US military forces forbids anyone with a history of any kind of mental illness signing up.......i wonder why? Pretty obvious isn't it?

Excluding single person gun shooting/killings in the US and looking at mass shootings, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which compiles data from shooting incidents, a "mass shooting" is any incident where four or more people are wounded or killed. By that definition, there have been 136 mass shootings in the first 164 days of this year. That's not a figure any President should have reason to be proud of.

Looking on the plus side though somewhat dark reality, it just enables even more to kill each other so given the Trump/Pence views on abortion, perhaps we can look at it as another means of keeping the population down......nice.

Absolutely I said its stupid IF TRUE ... But you seem to expect him to turn around gun crime in a couple of weeks ... Like you say gun crime has been a problem since day dot in the US ... Im not here to defend Trump on everything just the things I support him on ... If I see a wrong in a policy then i'll say so as I dont blindly defend him just because he's Trump ... Americans have enough nut jobs and criminals of their own as gun crime figures prove without shipping in others

Repealing an order banning people with mental issues from owning guns is a huge step backwards though.

Trumpophobia or more commonly known as Brexitophobia .... Two modern day conditions that effect those who suddenly dislike democracy ... Symptoms can include lots of crying , stamping of feet , protests which often turn very violent where no one knows what they protesting about , court cases , lots and lots of name calling and endless whinging and moaning ... The only known remedy is one from back in the old days ... You lost , role up your sleeves breathe in and accept it and move on ... For those that still can't accept it the future looks very , very bleak for you as the 'illness' that causes Trumphobia and Brexitphobia looks like it might be catching in other countries ... Look forward to Wildersphobia and LePenphobia

Forget White House......it's men in white coats urgently needed.

Trump has now rescinded legislation Obama made keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Trump saw that as "discriminatory" and "depriving law-abiding Americans of their constitutional rights." *-)

The men in white coats are not needed for Trump (well not yet), they are needed for you. Trump hasn't rescinded the law, this is a resolution sponsored by Sam Johnson a Republican Congressman from Texas (well he would be), and here are his thoughts on Trump

"Well, I think he's the party's nominee, we'll just leave it at that. I don't know whether I personally will [endorse him], but I'll vote for him."
