Transporting or getting MH driven from Leicester to Southampton

We are back in Tasmania after 18 months around Europe and have decided to ship our motorhome to continue the adventure with us here in Australia. A friend was going to drive the MH from where it is stored near Leicester to the port in Southampton, but she has just injured her neck and out of any driving action :-(

Can anyone suggest anyone who does transporting to Southampton - on a truck or driving? We were quoted 680 pounds by the shipping company - I could fly from Australia to do it myself for less than that!

Many thanks

Robert

Have you contacted the shipping agent, who will be transporting it back to OZ? It should come as part of the package Some years ago friends had a yacht brought back from the caribbean That cost £6K and that was 15 years ago. Don't think the total cost will be cheap , may be cheaper to sell it here and buy in OZ!

Good luck any way

PJay

PS who ever drives it would need to be insured to drive it!!

Hi, just a word of warning.

Just be absolutely sure that whoever you get to transfer it, doesnt disappear off into the sunset with it. Too many fly by nights around these days.

Best suggestion would be to contact a reliable dealership with bases in each area, who might be able to coordinate with a transfer of one of their own requirements..

Thanks PJay

The original plan was to sell it, but dealers know how to get the lowest price and it is difficult selling privately from the other side of the world. Over here in Australia, motorhomes are so much more expensive than in the UK, so it is worth shipping it even with all of the costs involved. It isn't as much as your friend's yacht though!

Cheers

Robert
