One of the biggest threats to marital disharmony?

My nearest and dearest is resisting my attempts to persuade him that we need a new van specific satnav for our next trip to Europe. The choice, which is between one which costs around £200 and another that costs around £300, is troubling him. He says that either choice would buy a lot of maps. Maps that I cannot read say I, and we have several maps covering vast tracts of Europe already. We have reached an impasse. I wish I’d bought him one for Christmas.

I have such happy memories of Filey as a kid Antony but they are from the height of summer. Not sure I would choose to go there in March.

You need to man up a bit ... Filey in March can be like Venice in July but totally different ... I refuse to go to that Europe anymore since they made us vote out ... Ruddy foreigners

I've been to Venice in July Antony and it was nothing like Filey in March. Not knocking Filey as it has it's own special charms but I quite like mixing with ruddy foreigners.

I'm just guessing, but I think she'd rather stick pins in her eyes.

Veronica,

You won't go wrong with the Garmin Camper 760-LMTD https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EY3ZSII?ie=UTF8&tag=pric097-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=1634&creativeASIN=B00EY3ZSII&smid=A3ULVD47Q2ZXW

Lifetime free mapping, 7" screen and clear maps. The audio is also excellent quality (possibly due to the unit size). I bought mine from Aldi on offer at £199 but that was before Brexit. Now you will be lucky to find lower than Amazon price unless you buy used.

I always carry hard mapping with me though wherever i go.

That's the one I have tried to persuade him to buy BG. I even said "I'll pay" but he is umming and ahhing because there's the other one that's talked a lot about on this and other MH forums that is the new snooper thingy under a new brand name beginning with an "A", can't remember the name but is has a dashcam. Don't need or care for the latter as if there's a crash it will probably be our fault ( ha ha). It's a 100 quid cheaper than the Garmin but Garmins tend to confuse me a bit because I've had a Tomtom for the car for a good while. First world problems eh?

I have a TomTom GO 750 but bought the Garmin as the model TT i have won't read co-ordinates in certain countries i go to. Garmin does. It's a cracking gps unit and comes with all ACSI sites pre-installed plus many small privately owned sites such as farms etc. Operation is a bit different to TT but you soon get used to it.

Meanwhile back to the thread *-)

I might as well be blind when it comes to map reading. I've lost the argument over the purchase of a new satnav. The ancient Tomtom Start has started behaving due to son's intervention. It's going to be down to that, 3 Michelin Map books, the ACSI handbooks and some rather choice use of Anglo-Saxon as we go round roundabouts three times and make several U turns. I think the dog has a better sense of direction than I have. Time I did most of the driving perhaps.:-(
